What do I need to start mixing?
Ok, so I started to mix with Virtual DJ, but it is certainly not enough, so I want to invest in some equipment. Mp3 I want a set of balls, so I'm looking at a http://www.guitarcenter.com/Numark-NDX400-Tabletop-Scratch-CD-Player-105614093-i1470740.gc Numark Then I want a regular blender, so I know what I need and a good pair of headphones for DJs. Now I'm not sure if A) I need a DJ software (I have a MacBook Pro that has all my music) and if so what is it? B) I want to be able to add effects, I must be able to do in my mix? C) Finally (I know this is long, but bear with me please!) Is there anything that I need? I know this is quite an investment, but I try to be as economical as possible to get strong team. Thank you for the help!
If you really put on the deck Numark ?…. Did you go? I thought if I started just out today, I would: 1) Traktor that I think is the best DJ in the most intuitive program, 2) and Traktor has lots of great effects, and 3) a DJ controller (like a Hercules RMX, which is a good mixer midrange / soundcard combination). Connect the controller to your laptop with a USB port on your receiver with the cables. The regulator controls Traktor via USB. No need to use the keyboard or mouse at all. Connect your headphones into the DJ controller and you can listen to the next track for perform while the current track is played through the speakers. Traktor has access to your iTunes folder so it's easy to find the music you need. You can use the controller with Virtual DJ and if you prefer. As http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2lF1-CjdZg&feature=fvw monitoring you can see, it only has a laptop with Traktor, RMX, and that's it (with phones and amp and speakers, of course).
