SanDisk 2GB Memory Card help !!!!?

I have an HP Notebook and Tablet PC has a card reader built into it. I recently purchased a Samsung A707 SYNC and I put in a memory card there to download music and what not. So now buy a card SanDisk Memory 2GB and when I am in the card reader to your computer reconize, but when I play music and other functions in the said map shall be formatted and said it must do so now. click Yes, I said you can not format. help!

Does the card has a switch locking data on it? small switch locked from accidental deletion.
