Dell is a way later in the growing trend of mini-laptops with its 8.9-inch Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (with a great "Mini 12" also included in the series). It looks like any other Dell laptop – functional – and to some extent it is. There is nothing radically new in the Mini 9, which is what most laptops 9 inches, finally, the Intel Atom 1.6 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and a bright 8.9-inch with a resolution of 1024×600.
Size wise, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is generally quite impressive. It is a bit larger than the original Eee PC Breath PC 701, and so thin that weighs a little over a kilo. It is more clear is the Eee PC 901 – No. 1 of our mini-laptop.
Connectivity is the usual ring and whistles, Bluetooth and 802.11b / g Wi-Fi, although the inclusion of HSDPA is a big advantage. The only problem is that is bound by a contract with Vodafone – not "unlocked" option Advent 4213, so far all modes. More information later …
Battery life, while better than the 3-cell MSI Wind is pretty poor compared competition with 6-cell Eee PC and similar. Dell promises about To 4 hours, reasonable, but not a patch on the same size Eee PC 901. In an attempt to maintain the compact laptop, the battery must come in the keyboard area, removing all the rows of keys F1-F12, leaving the depth of the keys to the very low anyway. The keyboard does not extend the right to edges of the well, so it is not as it seems larger. In general, the battery and the keyboard is somewhat compromised. The touchpad is nice, but with the Button mouse below, not beside, like the HP Mini-Note and Acer Aspire One
most was again disappointing, with Dell computers – or deaf? The interface seems boring and out over the edges – is an image. And it is only available in black in the United Kingdom. Smart maybe, but for the consumer, more imagination certainly appreciated! This is particularly unfair, as some Mini 9 appear in states with Dell Studio 15esque. Certainly, these would be reduced by the success – a success all the same compared to black black black. According to rumors, a blank is one way however.
£ 299 for the 8GB model XP (or £ 269 for the 4GB Linux) is a bit expensive given what Acer are selling, but with Vodafone may be obtained free in the contract. The cheapest contract at the time of publication, is £ 21.27 per month for 24 months – to put it bluntly and discard all soft Vodafone marketing – the "free" Dell will cost you £ 600 straight.
Oh, and only 1 GB broadband enough (demand Vodafone) to download large attachments 60 and 30 video clips, send 600 e-mails and surf for 30 hours. And do not you dare try to take your Dell Inspiron Mini 9 from Vodafone overseas – £ 9.99 per 24 hours or £ 4.99 per MB, maybe put the money more wisely.
About the mini laptops in the contract, there are many companies offering – The Carphone Warehouse, for example. Currently, the rates seem relatively terrible, even if it makes chips for the first computer, and speeds Download comparable. We hope this improves as more and more large companies on the market.
Storage solid state and passive cooling (no fan) gives a very quiet machine, an interesting option. The storage system itself is a little the short side of 8 GB for the XP version – half for Linux, Windows, and especially after the pre-installed programs are taken into account.
It appears, the keyboard and the problems of battery life aside, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a very good team. As far as we slam Dell they are a trusted brand and family – that can not be a good thing to reduce any time. But beyond the contract from Vodafone, there are nine other netbooks it's worth examining, and even 10-incher at the same price range as follows:
– Asus Eee PC 901 – Our # 1 mini-laptop
– Acer Aspire One
– Samsung NC10
– HP 2133 Mini-Note
Vodafone option is definitely worth a look if you want internet anywhere, anytime, even if the velocities Download is somewhat restrictive. If you can make it work Moneywise, then it is an excellent choice. It should be noted, however, before you sign even away for 24 months that several laptop manufacturers (Sony and Apple are two) and even mobile operators do not engage netbook cart – so it is best netbook with 3G "unlocked" may be just around the corner.
Dell has managed to make and produce a brother for the Inspiron Mini 9 – the Inspiron Mini 12. And Japan, before hitting the UK with Linux, Windows XP and Vista. The problem is that they are trying to run Vista with 1GB of RAM and the same Intel Atom – awkward movement – Asus have their high-end 10-inch Atom Netbook N10, N20 with its big brother on an Intel Core 2 Duo.

How to remove Linux from netbook?
I have Windows 7 and Linux Mint Dual boot 10. Like Linux, it's just that (and has never thought I would this Windows) seems to work best for me as it supports the things I use every day (tablet). I know you must remove some way Linux and the Linux GRUB boot, but I'm clueless. Keep in mind that netbooks do not have cd .. = /
It's time to rely on LAUNCHcast A contrary many will jump on you to tell Windows to work better for you. Works best for each user individual. Linux can be used as a cheaper alternative on the servers. Coming to your question, I think it's ideal to start from scratch, format disk and reinstall Windows ..
