help me choose a Linux distribution?

I would like to try Linux for the first time on a laptop. I looked around and passed through distributions. Slackware, Gentoo Debian how do I know what is best for me? Is it better? I would not use Ubuntu right now. Finally, distributions are compatible with a graphics tablet if you have one?

Linux Mint is an excellent option. Debian Ubuntu is nothing less cold. Fedora Core openSUSE and some other great options. I play with gOS, which is very good so far. PCLinuxOS is good, and Freespire. Both are a little bland, no embargo. Honestly, there was nothing better than Ubuntu for me until now. However, it is fun to play with them. Tablet PC running Linux has been since 2003. Most distros are now supported.
