After having solved the problems in my previous motherboard AMD Geode Carputer, I decided to upgrade. Some problems which were posed to the mission, Bluescreens due to driver problems and strange behavior in general. I also wanted more features, such as the ability to boot from a USB drive. Not only that, but the Commission was quite hot in my glove box and did not performance I wanted.

Unfortunately, based D945GCLF2 Intel Intel Atom, is finally out. One of the key features caught my attention was the dual-processor Atom heart. Not only is dual core, but their energy was outstanding. It is estimated that the use 4 watts of charge, while consumption milliwatts (thousandths of a watt) when idle. Being in a Carputer, power consumption is a important criterion, because we must determine the extent of power that need. The specification of the energy consumption can also give you an idea of what temperature it disappated, after all, not the energy used for the calculation is dissipated as heat.

The PSU I use is the Opus 120. It's rated 120 watts and has boosted my previous generation very well. I came across a bone that I did not expect, however. This motherboard uses an ATX 12V P4 connector (see photo on the site) and the standard ATX 20-pin connector 24. The source power than I (and most that I saw) do not have this connector built into the harness.

To resolve this problem, you can buy an adapter from Molex to P4, or you can upgrade your existing electrical wiring and add the P4 connector. I chose to mod my harness existing wiring and add the P4 connector to one of the existing Molex connectors. Basically, I cut a regular P4 connector supply ATX, stripped the son, and they crowded into existing molex connection. See photos on the site to see what I mean.

After everything was installed, I installed the full Windows XP Pro with SP3. He chose to use TinyXP because it felt it could cause problems on the road with all the drivers who had robbed Out. After installation, I installed Winamp usual, the VLC media player, SpeedFan, iGuide, Centrafuse, and finally the drivers. Instead of configuring Windows to hibernate after the car is off, I decided to close completely because I had many problems with hibernation, it resumes properly.

With 1 GB of RAM and a disk 2.5 "80GB 4200RPM Hard Drive, performance is not so bad. You think that a 4200RPM hard drive would be a little slow, but hardly notice. Windows is started from a cold start quickly and make all the programs I use. Waiting forever for the next song or load a program to open it.

The low power of the Commission is also remarkable. With my old board, the CPU temperature is always at least 45 ยบ C during boot, and rise a little over 60C after being used for a while. In a cold morning, about 55F, Intel Atom able to start at 30C and after 20 minutes, had increased by only 35 C! Now when I open my glove box, no more hot air oozing. The air inside the glove is nearly the same temperature as the air in the cabin! However, the temperature will depend on the ambient temperature inside the cab, so the CPU will run hotter on a hot day. On a 80F day, do not start the CPU at 30C and approximately 55-60C, is still not in a very hot day.

Overall, the Intel D945GCLF2 is a great buy. Only $ 89.99 for Mini-box.com, you get many features, and best of all, a Dual-Core. With low power consumption, low temperatures and high performance, it seems as if the board was made explicitly use Carputer, which excels.

Hmm … Recommendations Graphics Tablet?

I think to get a tablet. But I do not know what to buy. Or what is the best deal. Does anyone own a tablet? Please share your experiences and recommend a brand? <3

Wacom is the standard Industry and absolutely excellent, but really recommend that people not as a first tablet drawing, especially if they only think about getting one or just want to try it – because they are too expensive! I used a few different pills, so here's my advice: If you want to make a accuracy of professional work with an Intuos it is certainly the way forward. However, if you just draw for fun or as a hobby, but still wants a tablet good quality that will last a long time, I recommend the Wacom Bamboo range, which is cheaper than the Intuos, but more than enough for most artists – it all the characteristics necessary to produce a great work of digital art, including pressure sensitivity, Custom Buttons luxury, etc. If you are unsure if a pill is for you and you try one, there are some cheaper brands that are not as durable as Wacom, but remain important for artists who want to see how they work with unspent too. Although I have not worn one himself, I seen other artists tell Aiptek tablets (http://www.aiptek.com). If you are interested in studying some other can compare brands and prices here: For the size http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/aboutgraphics/a/graphicstablets_3.htm is mainly a matter of preference – most tablets can be set so that the drawing area automatically covers the entire screen what the difference is negligible. Personally, I I prefer smaller, because I think the larger work, but some people prefer to feel that they work in a region wider.
